Distinguished Lecture to Discuss Changing World of Marine Freight

Jim Kruse, director of the Center for Ports and Waterways at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute, will give the Dan Flowers Distinguished Lecture from 5-6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Bell Engineering Center Room 2282. His speech is titled "​Don't Look Back, the Past Isn't Where We Are Headed. A Look at How the Marine Freight World is Changing".

The Dan Flowers Distinguished Lecture is sponsored by Mack-Blackwell Transportation Center and the Maritime Transportation Research and Education Center, both research centers at the university.

Kruse has 31 years of experience directly related to marine freight transportation and its ties to the surface transportation system.  He has held his current position for 17 years. Before that, he served as port director for eight years at the Port of Brownsville, Texas. 

He is responsible for research involving waterborne freight transportation and its multimodal connections.  He has conducted research for port authorities, industry associations, state governments, federal agencies, and private industry.

Additionally, he is the Marine Group Chair for the Transportation Research Board and is a member of the Marine Transportation System National Advisory Committee.
