The Wellness Academic Series offers students the opportunity to earn academic credit while learning valuable strategies that support their well-being and increase their knowledge of important health topics.

The courses continue to be popular amongst students, and have been found to impact students' lives positively.

Starting next semester, Pat Walker Health Center's Wellness & Health Promotion department added two new academic credit courses to the series — Tai Chi and Nature Rx.

Tai Chi is a graceful form of exercise that helps reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve flexibility and balance. Originally developed for self-defense, Tai Chi is described as moving meditation.

Nature Rx is an emerging trend that connects students with the natural world as an effective strategy to significantly enhance one's holistic health and stress/anxiety coping capabilities.

These eight-week courses, which are listed under PBHL 2101 Special Topics, are offered in collaboration with the department of Public Health in the College of Education and Health Professions.
