Danielle Williams, assistant vice chancellor and director of Equal Opportunity and Compliance, recently attended the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Contract Compliance Program town hall for academic institutions in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 23.

Williams was invited by the OFCCP to attend due to her recent selection to review the Technical Assistance Guide for federal contractors and subcontractors that are academic institutions prior to publishing. Williams had previously been selected from among many EEO and Affirmative Action compliance professionals in higher education to review and provide feedback on OFCCP's TAG.

The TAG was created to provide clarity to educational institution because they face challenges to EEO/AA compliance unique from other federal contractors.

"It was an honor to be selected to participate in the Department of Labor's review of critical guidance that ultimately impacts the University of Arkansas as well as other institutions across the nation," Williams said. "Having the opportunity to have a voice in these conversations and see first-hand the employment and labor challenges that were being addressed was enlightening and I feel very productive."

Williams has been the head of the campus OEOC since 2013. The mission of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Compliance is to engage with the campus community to proactively advance the University's initiatives and resources to create a more inclusive educational and work environment.
