The University Career Development Center is now accepting applications for a new Career Peer Mentor. The start date will be Jan. 13, 2020. Applicants should be undergraduate or graduate students from any academic discipline who are outgoing, friendly, reliable with great interpersonal skills, and looking for an opportunity to motivate their peers to set and achieve their career goals. Students will receive comprehensive training plus earn $10/hour, approximately 10 hours/week.

Career Peer Mentors work in the new Career Studio, an open concept environment that launched Fall 2019, where UA students can drop in without an appointment. Career Peer Mentors provide one-on-one and group advising/coaching in a variety of career-related areas, including resume and cover letter reviews, interview tips and mock interviews, and basic job/internship search assistance, among others. They also may work on special projects related to areas. Preference for the Career Peer Mentor position will be given to current sophomores, juniors, and first-year graduate students who can commit to working in the Career Studio at least one school year. Graduate or Teaching Assistants are eligible to work as Career Peer Mentors up to 10 hours/week in addition to their graduate assistantship; those interested can be approved by the U of A Graduate School for the extra hours.

Interested students may apply on the CDC website. Applicants must also submit a resume, cover letter, and their work availability for Spring 2020. Full applications received by Sunday, December 15th, will receive full consideration. For more information, contact Carolyn Chitwood, Director of Career Education, at cchitwoo@uark.edu.
