Free Drawing Event for Students Next Week

Start the semester off right with a free drawing class!

On Jan. 22, in conjunction with the School of Art, the Classical Studies Program and the Center for World Languages, the University of Arkansas Museum is hosting its first ever “No Experience Necessary” Drawing Event at 4 p.m. at the Language Center on campus.

This event will give participants the opportunity to learn how to draw ceramics from the museum's Greco-Roman collection. This event will be taught by professor Kasey Ramirez of the School of Art.

In addition, it will feature free Mediterranean snacks and a selection of the museum's Greco-Roman artifacts available for viewing.

No drawing experience? No problem. Anyone who is interested is encouraged to participate in this event.

During the event, participants will learn techniques utilizing ceramic subjects that are hundreds of years old. All supplies will be provided and participants will be able to take their art home after the event. If you would like, you can bring your own supplies but it is not required.

For those who can't make the 4 p.m. start, the museum offers free collection tours during open hours. Please feel free to contact curator Laurel Lamb to set up a time to take one of our fantastic tours.

The event is for U of A students only. If you are planning to attend, please fill out a short interest form. Since there is a limited number of spots, we want to make sure we have enough supplies for everyone attending. See you there!
