Nigerian Immersion 2020 Offers Activities and Cultural Experience on Campus
If you've always wanted to have an international experience, you can get a feel for it without leaving town at the University of Arkansas 15th annual cultural immersion program Saturday, Feb. 1.
Participants will experience the Nigerian National Youth Service Corps through cultural immersion reenactment. The Nigerian Immersion program allows registered participants to learn about the National Youth Service Corps' history, purpose and significance in Nigeria while enjoying an afternoon of activities and exercise.
From 12:45-4:30 p.m. in the Arkansas Union, participants will become a Corper, join a platoon, learn maneuvers, eat lunch in camp, learn chants and watch cultural presentations and performances.
The event is sponsored by a coalition of organizations on campus, including International Students and Scholars, the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education, the U of A Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the Walton College of Business Diversity and Inclusion, the IDEALS Institute, Fulbright Diversity and Inclusion, African and African American Studies, and the Graduate School and International Education.
Register online to enjoy the full immersion experience. Space is limited to the first 200 participants. Children ages 7 and older are welcome to participate.
