World-Renowned Septura Brass Septet to Perform at University of Arkansas Feb. 13
The Department of Music at the University of Arkansas is proud to feature some of the finest brass players in the world for a one-night-only concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, in the Jim and Joyce Faulkner Performing Arts Center.
Septura Brass Septet is currently the Ensemble in Residence at the Royal Academy of Music in London, and is made up of players from the London Symphony, the Royal Philharmonic, and the BBC Symphony, to name a few.
Working to redefine the idea of brass chamber music, the Septet uses a uniquely expressive sound through trumpet, trombone and tuba, creating new musical works from the familiar compositions classical audiences have already come to know.
Their current tour across the United States is only three weeks long and then the group moves on to locations in Europe, including their first ever concert in Austria.
"Septura Brass is arguably the most outstanding brass ensemble touring and playing today. They are made up of seven of the top brass players from the orchestras of London, and present unique programs to audiences. This is a concert that the U of A community and the Northwest Arkansas region should not miss. We are very lucky to be hosting them on their 2020 U.S. tour," said Richard Rulli, U of A music professor.
