Museum and Libraries Host 'Preserve Your Past' Workshop This Saturday

Keep those pesky dust bunnies away and your heirlooms properly covered!

On Feb. 29, the University Museum and University Libraries will host their first ever "Preserve Your Past" Workshop to show participants how.

This preservation workshop will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the museum, 2471 N Hatch Ave, Fayetteville, AR 72704.

Instead of lectures, this event is designed to give participants the opportunity to learn about preservation through hands-on activities. Throughout the event, there will be around 4-6 activities that cover paper, photos, clothing, and other family heirlooms. A few specific activities that participants will be doing are hanger making, surface cleaning, and recordkeeping.

Guests are also encouraged to bring 1-2 small items to the event so that they can use them in the activities. However, this is by no means a requirement and the museum will provide items for guests who did not bring an item with them.

At the end of the workshop, there will also be a Q&A session for participants who have specific questions about their items. So, come with questions!

There is a $15 fee for participating in this event. This fee, which must be paid in cash, will pay for the event's supplies as well as a take-home goodie bag for each participant. These goodie bags will contain useful supplies and resources that people commonly need when preserving their heirlooms.

This event will also include a behind the scenes tour of the museum's collection along with free guest parking.

If you are planning to attend, please fill out this short online registration form. Since there is a limited number of spots, we want to make sure we have enough supplies for everyone attending. See you there!
