Ron Neyman to Retire After 36 Years of Service
After almost 36 years, Ron Neyman will retire at the end of the month. He started as an hourly application programmer converting a legacy budget system from a home-grown accounting system to a new financial software package. He then started working on the student information system supporting student financials, student records and state reporting.
"I have held every classified application development position from hourly application programmer to systems analyst III along the way until I was promoted to assistant director of computing services in 1996 and have held that position since," Neyman said.
He has supported three student information systems, including the implementation of two: SAFARI and UAConnect.
"I appreciate Ron's contributions to Student Information Systems to support our student needs on campus and his commitment to the University of Arkansas," Dinesh Hegde, associate CIO, said. "I wish him the very best in his retirement."
During his tenure, Neyman has seen the administrations of five chancellors, four registrars, five treasurers, and six directors/CIOs of IT Services, formerly Computing Services. He has also witnessed the growth of the university from just over 13,000, to the current 27,000.
"It's been great to have a peer that truly understands applications development and support," Randy Putt, associate director of information technology, said. "I could always count on Ron to give me his honest feedback and to share his experience with me. We've seen a lot of change during our service to this university and I appreciate Ron for always being willing to share his perspective, knowledge and wisdom."
Ron Neyman's retirement celebration will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, in ADSB 240. Please come to thank Ron for his years of service at IT Services and his dedication to improving the university.
"As a university employee I am honored to have worked with some of the most dedicated, caring people who strive to serve our campus clientele," said Neyman. "Many of those people are still at UITS, and I wish them the very best as I make my way into the next phase of my life."
