Martha Anderson, head of Digital Services for the University of Arkansas Libraries, is among 24 selected as fellows of the Association of Research Libraries' Leadership and Career Development Program

The program lasts for one year and aims to facilitate the ability of "librarians from historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to take on leadership roles in their careers and the profession at large."

"I am excited to belong to the 2020-21 ARL Leadership and Career Development Program," said Anderson. "ARL members advocate on research libraries' behalf, convene on libraries' research and higher education partners, share intelligence on current issues, and develop the next generation of diverse library leaders."

Anderson is one of only four participants whose library is not a member of the Association of Research Libraries.

As head of Digital Services, Anderson leads a team of 11 staff in developing, managing and publishing digital content from several areas of the University Libraries, including Special Collections and the institutional repository. She holds an M.L.I.S. degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she was an ACE Scholar from 2009-2011, and an M.A. in Spanish from the University of Arkansas. She currently serves on the board of directors for the U of A's Latino Alumni Society

"I have a passion for producing and delivering access to digital content," Anderson said. "As an ARL fellow, I will have access and develop new research in my topic of choice, digital preservation. I am eager to continue my research and to contribute new programs and services to the U of A Libraries."
