University Recreation hosts a free educational fitness series called Barbells & Brunch, which focuses on different training styles that are available through the department. Barbells & Brunch consists of a 30-minute workout followed by yogurt bowls. The class is available to U of A students and UREC members and is a welcoming environment for individuals of all fitness abilities.

The next event will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, March 14, in the functional training space on the first floor of the HPER Building. The class will focus on how to properly utilize the functional training equipment so that participants can confidently complete workouts in that space on their own.

April's event will focus on the importance of cardiovascular training and will be located at the UREC Fitness Center, located on the second floor of the Arkansas Union. It will take place Saturday, April 11.

"Honestly, I am not super comfortable with the machines in the Donna Axum Fitness Center and felt that I was almost unable to use them because I didn't know what to do, said Rachel Pruitt, a senior nursing student. "However, at this event personal trainers walked us through a circuit that we could then use on a variety of different machines."

Registration is highly recommended as space is limited at each location. Register for Barbell & Brunch online at urec.uark.edu > Member Services.
