Study Abroad Program Cancelations Extended
The university continues to expand cancelations for Study Abroad programs including the most recent decision to cancel all summer university-sanctioned and coordinated study abroad programs through the end of the summer semester in August.
The university previously canceled international student travel through June 15, and extended that deadline in light of continued risks due to COVID-19 for international and domestic travel.
As the pandemic continues, numerous changes and cancelations have been announced to Study Abroad participants. More than 1,200 students have been affected by the university's decisions such as canceling summer trips to China, closing the Rome Center for Spring semester, canceling all summer Study Abroad programs, and bringing home all spring semester Study Abroad students from locations around the world.
"These decisions have a significant impact on our students and faculty," said Kim Needy, dean of the graduate school and international education. "We place a very high value on Study Abroad and international education, making it heartbreaking to cancel the spring and summer programs, but the safety and welfare of our faculty, staff and students must come first."
The Office of Study Abroad and International Exchange will continue monitoring international locations related to Fall semester travel, with updates announced as necessary.
