The campus may be closed, but your University of Arkansas Libraries are still here for you during these uncertain times. Please continue to check this page for important updates regarding Libraries services and hours.

Library Hours

The Library buildings and the campus remain closed.

We're still here for you!

There are many ways the Libraries can provide you with expert help and services, on campus or off.

Get Help 24/7
Need help finding, using, or citing information? Ask us! You can chat with a librarian 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from the convenience of your home. This service is staffed by UARK librarians as well as librarians from other university libraries worldwide.

Conduct your Research
The Libraries offer access to a multitude of online resources, including

Need help identifying the best resources for your research?

  • Check our Research Guides for expert advice on topics from Accounting to Zotero, written by your subject librarians.

  • Contact Special Collections for assistance with manuscript and rare book collections.

  • Visit our Distance Learning page for tips for remote users.

Connect from Anywhere
Use our links to resources to authenticate as a University of Arkansas student, faculty, or staff member via OpenAthens. OpenAthens uses your UARK email and password and keeps you logged in longer with fewer cache errors or other annoyances.

Service Changes

Electronic Document Delivery and Interlibrary Loan
We are still processing requests for digital articles and chapters.

Request items by filling out the ILLiad request form manually or use our Article Finder to search for your citation. If Article Finder cannot locate online full text, you will see an option to request the item on ILLiad Interlibrary Loan.

New to ILLiad? Register for an account or find out more about creating your account and requesting items.

Course Readings
The Libraries can still help you place digital materials in your Blackboard course. Email us at reserves@uark.edu to request materials for your students.

Course Materials and Fair Use
Libraries nationwide have endorsed an agreement concerning fair use and support of remote teaching and learning in the current public health emergency. In addition, many publishers including Elsevier, Cambridge, and others have made textbooks and other materials freely available during this crisis. Your University Libraries will work our hardest to place online materials in your Blackboard course as needed to complete assignments this semester. Please contact us at reserves@uark.edu for questions about availability of materials.

Extended Loan Periods
The last thing you need to worry about at this time is an overdue book. The Libraries are extending all regular 16-week loans to be due back in September. Special materials out on short-term loan have been updated to be due in April.

Not sure what you have checked out and when it is due? You can login to My Library Account to view your checkouts and renew items.

You can also sign up for our text message service to get timely reminders of items being held for you and upcoming due dates.

Book Drops are Open
We'll still be monitoring our three book drops for returned materials. In these extraordinary times, you may leave Interlibrary loan, course reserves, and audio visual materials in the book drops. Just please avoid tacos and pizza.

Book Purchases
For the remainder of the 2020 fiscal year, the Libraries will prefer electronic formats for books to ensure widespread availability for remote learning and research. Contact us at refer@uark.edu to request book purchases.

Event Changes

All Library events for spring 2020 have been canceled and will not be rescheduled at this time. We can't wait to see you all again soon. Until then, stay safe.
