Health Center Encourages TeleVisit Services
Last week, the health center announced newly added Telehealth services, including TeleVisits for the Primary Care and Women's Clinic.
With the numbers of COVID-19 cases increasing in the Northwest Arkansas area, Pat Walker Health Center is encouraging the University of Arkansas community to use Telehealth services to help support social distancing measures and limit exposure to COVID-19.
Using HIPAA-compliant video conferencing, a TeleVisit lets students, faculty and staff access key health care services while in the comfort of their residence hall, off-campus residence or other private location.
A TeleVisit offers some of the same benefits of an in-person appointment — your provider can assess your symptoms, recommend a plan of care, and send a prescription to your pharmacy if needed.
They can address a variety of medical needs, but ultimately determined on a case-by-case basis. Some common TeleVisit appointments include acute and chronic disease management, cold or flu-like symptoms, contraception counseling and tobacco cessation. Depending on your symptoms/medical needs, your provider may determine further evaluation is needed and will schedule you for an in-person, follow-up appointment.
The health center will continue to offer in-person appointments as needed, however all appointments — including TeleVisits — must be scheduled by phone. Please call 479-575-4451 to speak with a triage nurse who can determine which appointment-type is best.
