Peace Corps Prep Conducts Virtual Ceremony for Program Graduates
Faculty, staff and students gather virtually to celebrate Peace Corps Prep graduates
The University of Arkansas Peace Corps Prep program conducted a virtual graduation ceremony April 30 for the program's graduates this semester. Four graduating University of Arkansas students have earned Peace Corps Prep program certificates. Students who complete the program have a competitive advantage when applying for Peace Corps service as they are equipped in training and experience, foreign language proficiency, intercultural competency, and professional leadership development.
Sarah Lowe, Juliene Chang, Sharida Holloway, and Esther Heckmann completed all the program requirements and earned their certificates for spring 2020. The students' commitment to completing coursework, studying abroad, community service, and engaging in leadership development prepared them not only for joining the Peace Corps but also for being a global citizen.
The virtual graduation ceremony celebrated the students' achievements through a short video that was displayed during the Zoom meeting and a speech given by Associate Dean of International Education, Curt Rom. The graduates' families and academic advisors also attended the celebration, along with some International Education staff and faculty.
