U of A Speech Language-Hearing Association Strikes Gold Again

The University of Arkansas NSSLHA chapters gold honor badge, and highlights throughout the year.

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The National Student Speech Language-Hearing Association has awarded the NSSLHA Chapter at the University of Arkansas with 2020 Gold Chapter Honors.

Contributions made by the U of A chapter at the University of Arkansas to achieve Gold Chapter Honors included:

• Maintaining National NSSLHA Chapter Affiliation
• Posting Monthly Chapter Updates in the NSSLHA Community
• Maintaining 30% National NSSLHA Membership within the chapter
• Participating in Community Outreach Activities 
• Participating in Legislative Advocacy
• Fundraising $200 for ASHFoundation's NSSLHA Scholarship

National NSSLHA Chapter Honors are awarded to affiliated NSSLHA chapters that demonstrate an outstanding effort to support National NSSLHA's mission to inspire, empower, and support students in communication sciences and disorders programs

This is the second time the University of Arkansas NSSLHA chapter has been awarded Gold Chapter Honors since becoming an RSO on campus.

Along with achieving Gold Honors, the 150 members of the NSSLHA chapter at the University of Arkansas also raised money for their chosen local non-profit of the year TEAMworks. The RSO votes to support a different non-profit organization each year. TEAMworks seeks to improve and enhance the lives of special needs children locally and internationally. Currently, TEAMworks is made up of three divisions: TEAMworks International, Team Talent, and Heroes for Kids. The University of Arkansas NSSLHA chapter raised money through percentage nights and had members of the chapter volunteer at TEAMworks Fayetteville location throughout the year. Additionally, they hosted a toy and shoe drive and collected over 100 toys and shoes for TEAMworks. These items will be taken to Ukraine and Guatemala to enhance the lives of special needs children.
