New Normal: Surveying Student Responses to COVID-19

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Arkansas is seeking feedback from students about how they are responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and navigating their new normal as a part of a research study.

"This pandemic has impacted all aspects of our students' lives and we hear stories daily from those needing support or wanting to help others. The OEI team places students at the core of our strategy and programs, always seeking input and feedback in everything we do. Now more than ever, we need to gain insight into their experience so that we can empathize and gain a better understanding of their needs." said Deb Williams, director of student programs in the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

"As a student, it's so important to feel heard during these times, and as a researcher, it is critically important to take the time to understand. True innovation happens if we listen and empathize with the end user," said Kristie Moergen, a doctoral student in management.

The survey that students are invited to participate in as a part of a research project will also help the OEI team learn and understand more about which resources students need across the university.

"We care about our students, and want to ensure they are getting the resources they need to be successful in all areas of their life, despite the disruption of the pandemic," said Jessica Salmon, director of the McMillon Innovation Studio at the Sam M. Walton College of Business.
