Community Music School Announces Virtual Young Artist String Camp
The University of Arkansas Community Music School will be holding a Young Artist String Camp (YASC) from June 28-July 3, 2020.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the camp will be held online this year. Students who play violin, viola, and/or cello and are in grades 7-12 are encouraged to be a part of this year's camp.
"We are excited to offer this opportunity for both beginner and advanced musicians. In this time of physical distancing, YASC is here to bring virtual instruction to all who want to continue learning," said Nastassja Riley, lessons coordinator for the Community Music School.
Each student receives an individualized plan for the week and daily private lessons on Zoom or YouTube.
Students work with professional musicians to hone their skills, including technique, repertoire, sight reading, intensive private instruction, and group classes in music theory and history.

- Nastassja Riley, music theory
- Isaac Orvin, music history
Early registration is $100 and ends on June 1; after that, the fee to attend is $125.
There will be spots open for up to 12 students per instrument, and waitlists will be available for those spots that fill up quickly.
