Operations Management Scholarship Will Help Student Push Startup Success

The Master of Science in Operations Management program recently awarded the Operations Management Scholarship for fall 2020 to Hai Phan of Fayetteville.

Phan returned to the University of Arkansas nearly 15 years after earning a B.S.B.A. in information systems in 2005.  Upon earning his B.S.B.A., he returned to his native Vietnam to start his career. Phan progressed through IT project management roles, but said he didn't understand the importance of operations management until more recently, when he co-founded HT-Technology Vision.

Phan said he decided to pursue the M.S.O.M. program after realizing he needed more education to take his startup to the next level.

"I've run my startup company for over a year and finally found that I lacked knowledge to lead my business to be more successful," he said. "That was why I chose the M.S.O.M. program — to help me know how to operate my business more efficiently and effectively."

The MSOM Scholarship Fund is made possible thanks to gifts from alumni and friends of the Master of Science in Operations Management program. The scholarship has been able to award fall and spring scholarships since its inception in fall 2018. All gifts made in support of the MSOM Scholarship Fund count toward Campaign Arkansas, a $1.25 billion capital campaign focused on advancing academic opportunity at the University of Arkansas.
