Remko Van Hoek, a clinical professor in the Department of Supply Chain Management at the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas, has been named one of ten 2020 Rainmakers by DC Velocity.

Van Hoek, who holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Utrecht, specializes in teaching sourcing and procurement at the U of A. He also advises companies on procurement strategy and implementation. Prior to joining the Walton College, he taught in Europe and was a visiting professor at the Cranfield School of Management in England. He also has held supply chain and procurement executive roles in several companies around the world, including Nike, PwC and the Walt Disney Company.

DC Velocity selected the 2020 Rainmakers in concert with members of the magazine's editorial advisory board from candidates nominated by readers, board members and previous Rainmakers and DC Velocity thought leaders. This year's selections represent facets of business from practitioners and association executives to technology specialists, consultants and academics.

The magazine said Van Hoek "has a long history of giving back to the logistics and supply chain management profession, including his volunteer work with the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP)." He has held various roles in the council, including serving as its chairman.

At Van Hoek's suggestion, the board of directors of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals voted to build its Supply Chain Hall of Fame in Northwest Arkansas. Van Hoek will serve as executive director of the hall of fame.

DC Velocity is the market leading multi-media magazine brand serving the informational needs of logistics and supply chain managers and executives.
