Walton College Chapter, Students Win Awards at Beta Alpha Psi Annual Meeting

Students from the Sam M. Walton College of Business at the University of Arkansas won several awards and recognitions at the annual Beta Alpha Psi national meeting held this month.

Walton College's Beta Alpha Psi chapter was awarded gold status for the fourth time, said Thomas P. Hayes Jr., a clinical associate professor of accounting at the U of A.

The innovation team made up of Walton College students Ryan Decker, Emily Harrell, and Jenna Wilson, took second place in the best practices competition at the annual meeting, which this year was held in a combined remote format consisting of a live three-hour session on Aug. 6 and offline pre-recorded sessions that the chapters have access to through the fall of 2020.

U of A Beta Alpha Psi member Laura Minton participated on the first-place team for the meeting's Project Run With It competition.

"It has been an amazing year for our chapter in spite of everything that has been going on," Hayes said. "I want to say thank you for all the support we get from the accounting department and the college. These students are truly epic!"

Founded in 1919, Beta Alpha Psi is an honor organization for financial information students and professionals. There are over 300 chapters on college and university campuses with over 300,000 members initiated since Beta Alpha Psi was formed.
