Outdoor Wi-Fi Expands on Campus

Outdoor Wi-Fi Expands on Campus
University of Arkansas

The start of fall semester will bring expanded outdoor Wi-Fi across the U of A campus. Throughout summer, IT Services installed more than 25 Wi-Fi access points around locations such as the Greek Theatre, Arkansas Union mall and Champions Hall. A map of the outdoor Wi-Fi locations is available online. Each access point provides coverage of approximately 150 feet.

"Students don't place limits on connectivity," Elon Turner, director of infrastructure systems, said. "These new outdoor locations lead to more ubiquitous Wi-Fi at a time when the campus is looking for more options of where they can learn and work."

The fastest, most secure Wi-Fi network on campus is UARK Wi-Fi. Select the network on your device and log in with your UARK username and password.

"IT Services has taken a number of steps this summer to support the technology needs of our students, faculty and staff," Chris Butler, director of communications, said. “Providing connectivity in a way that supports social distancing is one of the most important things we can do for the campus.”
