ASG Seeks Student Opinions: 'How has Senator Fulbright's Legacy Impacted You?'

This week, the Associated Student Government will be hosting a space for students to express their opinions about former Sen. J. William Fulbright and his presence on campus. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 6-9 on the Union Mall, students will be able to answer the question "How has Senator Fulbright's legacy impacted you?" on a large canvas.

Students and community members who are unable to come write on the canvas can share their thoughts at this link. Diverse commentary and perspectives are welcome, however, hate speech and obscenities will not be tolerated.

Comments written on the canvas and submitted online will be presented by student government representatives to the Committee to Evaluate J. William Fulbright and Charles Brough's Presence on the University of Arkansas Campus. Comments left on the canvas will be presented anonymously, unless students choose to include their names or identifying information.

ASG hopes this will engage as many students as possible in the decision making process surrounding Senator Fulbright's presence on campus, and that this event will serve as a safe space for students to express their opinions in a tangible way.

For questions about the space, please contact ASG Director of Diversity and Inclusion Jacoby Hurst (hjhurst@uark.edu) or ASG President Julia Nall (asgpres@uark.edu).
