U of A Staff Members Recognized With Employee Awards Video

The University of Arkansas recognized more than 260 employees during its annual Employee Appreciation Awards. This year, employees are being recognized through a celebratory video, honoring staff members for their years of service as well as naming Employees of the Year and other accolades.

Part of Staff Appreciation Week, the Employee Awards video includes remarks from Chancellor Joe Steinmetz, who thanked employees for their hard work over a difficult year.

"This has obviously been an unusual year, and we have called on our staff to work harder than ever to make it safer for everyone to work and study here this fall. For many, this has required additional efforts and hours far beyond the norm as we developed new cleaning protocols, new space configurations, new technologies and new health and safety protocols," Steinmetz said. "None of that would have been possible without your dedication and hard work. Ultimately, I just want you all to know how much we appreciate you. You bring a vast amount of expertise and knowledge to your jobs every day, and you impart that to our students and colleagues you encounter."

The Outstanding Team Award was given to the Razorback Recovery Team, consisting of members Emery Gower, Kym Williams and Gretchen Brannon.

Five employees were named Employees of the Year:

  • Karl Anderson, project/program specialist in the Graduate School and International Education
  • Glenn Dunn, manager of technology services for Global Campus
  • Amanda Sanders, HR administrative specialist in the Department of Physics
  • Huong Devecsery, systems analyst in Financial Affairs
  • Ed McCawley, safety and training manager for the Transit Program

Staff members were also recognized who received Staff Senate Scholarships or earned a degree while working at the U of A.
