Lunch and Learn to Feature Dean John English

The campus community is invited to a virtual lunch and learn with John English, dean of the College of Engineering, as he prepares to transition to vice chancellor for research and innovation at the University of Arkansas.

The lunch and learn will take place via Zoom Tuesday, Oct. 27, from noon to 1 p.m.

The event comes as part of the Arkansas Alumni Presents series, which features interactive and collaborative events for students, alumni and friends of the university.

English has served as dean of engineering since 2013, and will become vice chancellor for research and innovation November 1. The lunch and learn will reflect on his time as dean, as well as what he's looking forward to as vice chancellor for research and innovation.

English, who holds the Irma F. and Raymond F. Giffels Endowed Chair in Engineering, received his bachelor's in electrical engineering and master's degree in operations research from the University of Arkansas, and holds a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and management from Oklahoma State University. He has served on the faculties of Texas A&M University and Kansas State University, as well as the University of Arkansas.  English served as head of the U of A Department of Industrial Engineering from 2000 to 2007.  Prior to joining the University of Arkansas as dean in 2013, he served as dean and the LeRoy C. and Aileen H. Paslay Chair of the Kansas State College of Engineering.
