The University Libraries will offer two new sessions during Research Week to help attendees explore new ways of managing data. These virtual sessions are free and open to all U of A students, faculty and staff. Registration is required.

Data management plans are excellent for organizing and managing data for any project, and are now essential components to funding requests to granting agencies. To make writing the plans easier, we'll provide links to funder guidelines along with tools and tips that can guide the way. The session Your Data Management Plan, set for Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 3-4 p.m., will explore:

  • Identifying and locating funder requirements,
  • Ensuring that you're answering the correct questions for your funder,
  • Addressing questions on local practice, and
  • Locating open repositories.

A second Research Week session, Using the Open Science Foundation, is set for Friday, Nov. 13, from 10-11 a.m. The Open Science Foundation (OSF) provides tools for research project management through a platform that supports collaboration while providing a secure environment for files and data. This platform is excellent for preparing open materials for article review, as well as for final open publication. This session will introduce attendees to aspects of the OSF tools that can streamline research processes and enhance communication between team members and with external researchers.
