Virtual Presentation on Promoting Research Integrity on Thursday
Research misconduct costs the nation several hundred million dollars every year. Yet the most significant cost is the loss of trust in researchers and their work. For this reason, everyone who participates in research shares responsibility for promoting integrity and addressing misconduct.
On Thursday, Nov. 12, at 9 a.m., Jason Ramage, director of research compliance, and Melody Herr, head of the Office of Scholarly Communications, will give a presentation titled, "Promoting Research Integrity." They will provide an overview of research integrity and information on how to respond effectively in the event of any pressure to commit misconduct.
During this presentation, participants will gain a basic understanding of misconduct: definition, causes, means of detection, and consequences. They will also learn strategies for responding to misconduct--gathering facts, asking questions, engaging in conversation, and submitting allegations.
If you conduct your own research, work as a research assistant, or provide clerical or technical support for researchers, this presentation is for you.
