Department of Music Launches the 'Accent Faculty Performance Series'
The Department of Music in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences presents the "Accent Faculty Performance Series" to highlight the outstanding faculty performers at the University of Arkansas.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays via the Department of Music's YouTube Channel.
The Department of Music had to cancel numerous planned events for the 2020-21 season due to COVID-19 restrictions, and last season student recitals became the priority to make sure students finished degree requirements. After months of the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall being closed to everything except classes and degree recitals, the Department of Music is pleased to once again welcome faculty to the stage.
The new series features six faculty members for the spring 2021 semester. Some performances will be pre-recorded for YouTube premieres while others will be livestream events directly from the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall. Performances will run from Jan. 28 through March 11.
Asher Armstrong, the Department of Music's new assistant professor of piano, will start the series with a premiere performance featuring the late piano music of Johannes Brahms on Thursday, Jan. 28.
The pre-recorded performance includes an interesting three-angled recorded performance from Armstrong's studio in the Billingsley Music Building. Please join the department in welcoming the newest piano professor and the beginning of a new and exciting performance series.
