Aileen George has been named employee of the second quarter by the University of Arkansas Global Campus.

George, a financial affairs specialist, was nominated by her coworkers for her "outstanding work ethic and willingness to volunteer for extra duties whenever possible." They also praised her dedication and diligence, which they say reflect the University of Arkansas's commitment to excellence in distance education.

"I am so flattered by the award," George said. "It means so much to me to be recognized by such an amazing group of people. My University of Arkansas journey began almost two years ago, and all of it has been at the Global Campus. I have made wonderful connections with fantastic people, and I would not trade the experience for anything."

The coworkers who nominated George recognized her work in ensuring that Global Campus continues to provide professional and workforce development training opportunities to existing and new clients. They also recognize George's assistance in many facets of daily office operations. These include assisting with financial documents and processes, traveling between the Fayetteville and Bentonville offices, preparing reports, and providing quality customer service.

"Aileen assisted with financial issues related to leaving our office in Rogers and moving to the new Bentonville location," her colleagues said. "She also assists with tasks at the Global Campus Fayetteville office. Aileen is always willing to help as needed and produces quality work in a timely fashion. During a time of challenge and transition, Aileen has maintained her normal duties and cheerfully taken on extra ones. Her service and support helped the Professional and Workforce Development team continue to grow and pursue new grant opportunities."

Jamie Loftin, assistant vice provost for distance education administration at Global Campus, recognized George as the employee of the quarter at the January staff meeting conducted online.

"Aileen is a tremendous asset to the Global Campus," Loftin said. "She is the first to volunteer and willing to help in any possible way. Given the unique situation we have faced over the past year, Aileen's positive attitude and her ability to make an impact in various areas of our operations are more important than ever."

The Global Campus awards the employee of the quarter to recognize outstanding achievements and accomplishments that relate to the unit's goals and the U of A mission. The award recipient receives a commemorative certificate and a monetary award.

Other second quarter nominees were Anne Marie Holimon, human resource analyst; and Kaleb Futch, learning resources developer.

The Global Campus supports the U of A academic colleges and schools in the development and delivery of online degree programs and courses, self-paced online courses, and workforce development programs. This unit provides instructional design services, learning technology support, media production services, and assistance with financial administration, recruitment and marketing.

The Global Campus also supports the W.E. Manning Memorial Scholarship, which is open to undergraduate and graduate students studying in online degree programs.
