Gordon to Discuss Entry into Academic Publishing for Graduate Students

Graduate students are invited to attend a virtual session on academic publishing with Joel Gordon, professor of history, from 6-7:30 p.m. today, Feb. 8,  via Zoom.

Gordon is currently editor of the International Journal of Middle East Studies (IJMES), the leading interdisciplinary journal in field the field of Middle East Studies. He will lead a workshop on academic publishing, with a particular eye toward journal articles but also first books — some "do's" and some "better not's" as well as some "don't say I didn't warn you's" and some "no guarantees, but's." 

This session is primarily designed for graduate students in all areas of Middle East Studies (broadly defined), but is open to students from all disciplines. Attendees should explore the IJMES website prior to joining the session.

This session is part of the MEST Graduate Student Support series organized by Khadidja Bouchellia, doctoral student in comparative literature and cultural studies, and is part of the Middle East Studies Program's diversity, equity and inclusion initiative. This series is intended to help dismantle and demystify barriers to full participation in the academic community and will address topics like fellowship and grant writing in the upcoming sessions.
