Mantooth to Deliver Arkansas Research Alliance Project Scope
Alan Mantooth
Distinguished Professor Alan Mantooth will be the featured speaker of Project Scope, Arkansas Research Alliance's online discussion of science and discovery.
The presentation is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, and can be viewed online. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
Mantooth, an Arkansas Research Alliance Scholar, will discuss his work on extreme-temperature electronics and improving the nation's electrical power grid.
As executive director of the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission, or NCREPT, the highest powered power-electronics test facility at any U.S. university, Mantooth leads a large team of researchers focused on improvements to the nation's electrical power grid. He currently oversees more than $30 million in active research projects, and his collaborative research has added more than $1 billion to Arkansas' economy.
Mantooth is also executive director of the Cybersecurity Center for Secure Evolvable Energy Delivery Systems, a consortium of university and industry partners focused on protecting the U.S. power grid from cyberattacks.
He holds the Twenty-First Century Research Leadership Chair in the College of Engineering.
