Women's History Month: Jenny Eakin Delony

Jenny Eakin Delony (1866-1949) was a suffragette, feminist and artist chosen by the U.S. Suffrage Council to exhibit at the International Council of Women in Berlin. Born in Washington, Arkansas, Delony was the first female painter from the state to rise to national and international prominence. She attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1896, the first year women were admitted for instruction.
Delony was instrumental in establishing the first art degree program in the state at the U of A, where she served as director.
