Alan Mantooth, Distinguished Professor of electrical engineering, was named an Arkansas Tech Titan by Arkansas Money & Politics magazine. He was one of 24 Arkansans in tech-related fields recognized for making a difference and helping to advance business in the Natural State.

Mantooth's collaborative research has added more than $1 billion to the state's economy and is currently focusing on cybersecurity, including solar PV systems and power electronics for heavy equipment.

Kim Needy, dean of the College of Engineering, praised Mantooth's achievement.

"Dr. Mantooth is on the cutting edge of his field and committed to excellence in his research," she said. "He continues to represent the University of Arkansas well, as he leads multiple research centers and continues to elevate Arkansas' economy. He is a leader in his field, and we are fortunate to call him our colleague."

Mantooth manages the UA Power Group, a multidisciplinary group of researchers working to deliver next-generation electronic vehicles, renewable energy systems, grid infrastructure and cybersecurity.

He is the executive director of the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission, the highest powered power-electronics test facility at any U.S. university. He is the executive director of GRid-connected Advanced Power Electronic Systems, which is funded by the National Science Foundation; and the Cybersecurity Center for Secure Evolvable Energy Delivery Systems, a consortium of university and industry partners focused on protecting the U.S. power grid from cyberattacks. The cybersecurity center is funded by the Department of Energy and Department of Homeland Security.

Mantooth is an Arkansas Research Alliance fellow and holds the Twenty-First Century Research Leadership Chair in the College of Engineering.
