Summer Pre-Law Program Accepting Applications: April 16 Deadline

Applications for SPPARK, the U of A School of Law's Summer Pre-Law Program, are now open. The program will be hosted virtually from May 24 to June 11. Applications are due by 5 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2021.

SPPARK is an annual three-week, intensive, pre-law focused academic summer program designed to expand diversity in law schools and in the legal profession. The program is intended for rising college juniors, seniors and recent graduates interested in law school. The program aims to help students improve their performance in their undergraduate work across multiple disciplines.

This year, the program will focus on comprehensive Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) preparation including synchronous instruction and individualized online resources. SPPARK students will also receive professional development training and opportunities to network with attorneys and current law students.

Students from the following groups are encouraged to apply:

  • Attending a college or university with historical significance to or significant populations of African American, Asian American, Latinx and American Indian student
  • First generation in their family to attend college
  • Have experienced or are experiencing significant financial challenges
  • Populations that are historically underrepresented in law school

Applicants for SPPARK 2021 must submit the following application materials as one packet, by email received by 5 p.m. or by mail postmarked by April 16:

  • Completed Application Form
  • Personal Essay (500-word maximum)
  • Resume
  • Current Transcript (official or unofficial acceptable)
  • Two Letters of Recommendation (signed and sealed in envelopes or sent separately by the recommender to the email or physical address listed below)

Students who are unable to meet the April 16 deadline are encouraged to email sppark@uark.edu to let the program personnel know in advance. Applications will not be accepted after the final April 26 deadline.
