Razorback Transit Continues Precautionary Measures
Although Gov. Asa Hutchinson lifted the statewide mask mandate on March 30, because of recommendations from the U.S. Center for Disease Control, passengers on Razorback Transit must still use face coverings and practice social distancing, which means buses will continue to run at reduced capacity.
The Arkansas Department of Transportation provided a clarifying email on this issue, saying that previous mask requirements from the federal government still apply for public transportation.
In addition, the Transportation Security Administration issued a Jan. 31 Security Directive that said masks must be worn "in airports, on commercial aircraft, and in various modes of surface transportation."
By continuing with the same procedures, Razorback Transit will be consistent with what has been required for much of the past 12 months and with the U.S. Department of Transportation's mask-up effort announced March 19.
Razorback Transit has been careful to follow transportation guidelines from the Arkansas Department of Health and the CDC. In addition, campus guidelines remain in place for wearing masks within buildings and when social distance is not possible outside.
