Terry Bennett has been named College of Engineering employee of the quarter for the third quarter of fiscal year 2021.

Bennett is an HEI Program coordinator in the Department of Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

The Employee of the Quarter award aims to recognize staff who play an integral part in the College's daily routines.

Xintao Wu, professor of computer science and computer engineering, nominated Bennett for his high degree of responsibility and great attitude when working with others.

"The nominee is a fabulous employee and an important asset to our department especially during the past year of transition of department leadership and pandemic," he said. "Terry is directly responsible for duties of almost all routine businesses in the department except budget and IT/computing support."

Bennett adds to his quality of work with genuine care for the department's students. "Even today, I was told that this staff member was checking on a student because they were worried that there may be an issue because of the decrease in the number of hours that the student submitted," said Dale Thompson about Bennett's thoughtful nature. Thompson is the associate department head for undergraduate affairs and associate professor of computer science and computer engineering.

Jia Di, department head and professor of computer science and computer engineering, appreciates the energy Bennett brings to his job every day.

"Ever since this staff member joined our department, he brought in a wave of enthusiasm, professionalism, energy, and responsiveness, all of which were much needed in our department office," he said. "With his previous experiences and skills from another college on campus, he took on a lot of responsibilities, especially after we lost another staff member in a sudden and tragic manner. Although sometimes frustrations happened from Workday, ABET preparation, and other daily activities, this staff member never complains; instead, he worked hard to get through all the obstacles. His optimism and happy attitude affect everyone around him."
