Pride Month Videos Available Online and in Person Through Libraries Multimedia Department

A display of resources for Pride Month, located in the Mullins Library Multimedia Department.

In celebration of LGBTQIA Pride Month, the University Libraries Multimedia Department has compiled a list of streaming movies and documentaries available to all students, staff and faculty. Physical items are also available on display in the department, which is located on the lobby level of Mullins Library near the Hodges Reading Room. 

Movies 

Beautiful Thing 
This film tells the story of two teenage boys, neighbors in a London high-rise housing project, who gradually become aware that they are homosexual. 

A Fantastic Woman 
Marina, a transgender woman who works as a waitress and moonlights as a nightclub singer, is bowled over by the death of her older boyfriend. 

Love is Strange 
This movie depicts the delicate nature of two people building a long life together and their love growing deeper and richer with time. 

Call me by Your Name 
Call Me By Your Name details the love story of Elio and Oliver, two young men who spend a summer together on the Italian Riviera and develop a bond that shapes their view of love for the rest of their lives. 

Documentaries  

The Freedom to Marry 
This documentary offers the untold, inside story of the marriage equality movement. It features Evan Wolfson and Mary Bonauto, the architect and the main litigator of the movement, and key colleagues from their journey to the US Supreme Court. 

In My Shoes: Stories of Youth with LGBT Parents 
In a time when LGBT families are debated and attacked in the media, courts and Congress, from school houses to state houses across the country, five young people who are children of LGBT parents give you a chance to walk in their shoes - to hear their own views on marriage, making change, and what it means to be a family.  

Out in the Open 
This documentary is geared towards at-risk youth across the world, as well as their families, friends and teachers. Featuring interviews with celebrities, politicians and everyday allies who openly embrace the LGBTQ community, this feel-good film asserts that no single person is the same and that all people should be celebrated. 

The Celluloid Closet  
The Celluloid Closet explores sexual myths and how our attitudes about homosexuality and sex roles have evolved through the century.  

Portrait of Jason  
Black, gay prostitute Jason Holliday is rigorously interviewed on his story and character, revealing nuanced truths about life and art. 

Pay It No Mind: Marsha P. Johnson 
Marsha P. Johnson was a revolutionary trans activist, Stonewall instigator, Andy Warhol model, drag queen, prostitute, and Saint, as well as a downtown New York City fixture. From the 1960s through her too-soon demise in 1992, Johnson persevered through a life embodied by her middle initial P, which stood for "Pay It No Mind."
