Fisher to Retire After 34 Years at U of A

Terri Fisher, assistant to the associate deans of the Graduate School and International Education and a 34-year employee of the U of A, is retiring effective July 31. 

The campus community is invited to a drop-in reception honoring Fisher from 2-3 p.m., Thursday, July 15, in Gearhart Hall room 206.

Fisher has dedicated her career to students at the U of A, working behind the scenes to support students as they advance through their academic careers. She began her service to the university in 1987 in the Office of the Registrar before moving to the College of Education and Health Professions Dean's Office in 1997. Fisher moved to the Graduate School and International Education in 2002.

Patricia Koski, dean of the Graduate School and International Education, said she is grateful for Fisher's valuable contributions to the university and graduate education in particular.

"Although many faculty and students never saw Terri working, without her, we would not have been able to accomplish much of the great things we have done on this campus to advance graduate education," Koski said. "Terri will be sorely missed, but we wish her well in her retirement."  

When she retires, Fisher said she plans to spend time with her husband and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She hopes to visit family members who live in different states and eventually, visit baseball parks around the U.S.
