Greek Life staff get the Chi Omega Greek Theater ready for Saturday's Bid Day.

Panhellenic Bid Day will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, in the Chi Omega Greek Theatre and will be broadcast live on the Greek Life Facebook page.

"This is such an exciting in person experience for our Panhellenic chapters and its new members," said Parice S. Bowser, assistant vice chancellor for greek life and associate dean of students. "The live broadcast on Facebook helps bring the excitement to family and friends who cannot attend."

The ceremony will be broadcast live just before 10 a.m. Saturday at Facebook.com/uagreeklife,

"Bid Day is really the best day of the year. When these young women find their home away from home at the University of Arkansas it represents a new chapter in their life," said Amanda McQuitty, Panhellenic president. "These women join chapters full of other young women who offer them encouragement and support, helping tremendously with the transition from home to college life."

Over 1981 women participated in a hybrid recruitment experience this past week with most activities being in person. Potential New Members will gather   in the Chi Omega Greek Theatre Saturday morning to receive bids to their new organization.

"This is the largest recruitment class in the history of Greek Life at the University of Arkansas," Bowser said. "We have eleven amazing national award-winning chapters which continue to make such a difference at the University of Arkansas."

As is usual this time of year it is expected to be hot and humid. Greek Life staff ask that potential new members and their families and friends in attendance wear appropriate clothing for the weather and stay hydrated.

In addition, after bids are distributed at the Theatre, guest may gather on sorority lawns.  However, only active members and new members will be allowed in sorority houses.

For health and safety precautions, everyone is strongly encouraged to wear mask throughout the entirety of this outdoor event.  "Whether at the Greek theatre or on Maple Street, we want this to be an enjoyable experience.  But, also, safe.  It is our desire to continue hosting in person experiences throughout the year.  So, every effort should be made to help keep our community safe," states Bowser.

According to the University of Arkansas Police Department there will be several road closures during the Bid Day festivities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Specifically the following roads will be closed to vehicle traffic:

  • Maple and Lindell
  • Douglas and Leverett
