Fulbright College Launches DEI Faculty Reading Circle This Fall, With First Event Sept. 23
Creating a sense of belonging is one of our guiding priorities in diversity, equity and inclusion, and we invite the faculty of the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences to help us bring this vital goal into our classrooms by joining our Faculty Reading Circle!
Created by the college's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, the Faculty Reading Circle will be exploring the book What Inclusive Instructors Do during three virtual events this fall – one in September, one in October and one in November.
Each event will feature discussions, reflection questions and practical tools and classroom tips from the book What Inclusive Instructors Do by Tracie Marcella Addy, Derek Dube, Khadijah A. Mitchell and Mallory E. SoRelle.
The first event will be held from noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 23. Hosted by Romona West, director of the college's Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and Michael Nino, assistant professor of sociology, this session will review part one of the book – Evidence Supporting Inclusion and Major Principles.
The book can be found online or in bookstores.
Not sure if you'll be able to make it for all of the virtual events? Not a problem! Participation is on a rolling basis, and faculty from college can join at any time.
