Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the U of A

Departments across the U of A have planned a slate of events to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, including an Independence Day celebration from 6-8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 15, on the Union Mall.

Celebrations for the month, established in 1989 in recognition of the influences and contributions of Latinx and Hispanic communities on American society at large, also include film screenings, community mentoring opportunities and the annual Plaza de las Americas. Offices across campus are sponsoring Hispanic Heritage events, including the Multicultural Center, the Division for Diversity and Inclusion, the Latino Alumni Society and numerous academic colleges.

A calendar of events is available on the Diversity and Inclusion website and will be updated throughout the month.
