Online Community Exhibition Submissions Open Today

In spring 2021, the U of A Museum hosted the online exhibition, Bring Your Own Artifact: Razorback Spirit. The campus community shared personal objects representative of their U of A experience, while the museum shared a selection of university history objects.

The museum is excited to host a brand new Bring Your Own Artifact online community exhibit — this time reflecting on the theme of identity. What makes you, you? We want to know!

Submissions are open now through April 11, 2022. The goal of the exhibit is to provide an outlet for the campus community to share personal objects and stories related to the theme of identity, foster meaningful dialogue that connects us and feature the museum collections.

Submissions don't need to be old or an antique — just something that expresses who you are! Don't have an object, but a story to share? No problem. Images, videos, audio and written accounts will be accepted. The exhibition's accompanying in-person programs will especially focus on hobbies and passions, home and heritage, fashion/expressing yourself and important issues in society (climate change, social justice, etc). However, submissions are not limited to these topics. Here are some examples:

• Enjoy photography? Share your favorite photos or camera.
• Taken up poetry during the pandemic? Share a poem!
• Have a family recipe that you love? Share a video of you making and enjoying it!
• Far from home while attending school? Tell us about what you miss!
• Have a tattoo that means a lot to you? We want to see it!
• Have a favorite piece of clothing that expresses who you are? Share it!

Each submission will be entered in a drawing to win a personalized goodie bag and behind-the-scenes tour of the museum collections. No submissions will be physically accepted for this exhibition — only digitally documented through the submission form, then added to the exhibition's online page.

Museum staff and Advisory Council members will share a selection of museum artifacts related to identity, especially hobbies (like photography!), in the Arkansas Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 23. Stop by, check out the museum's artifacts, and even submit your artifact or story!
