In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, a display of books from the University Libraries' Diversity Collection is up on the lobby level of Mullins Library. All are available for checkout to campus users. The libraries also offer online resources for those wanting to learn more about Hispanic heritage.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 and celebrates Hispanic Americans' culture, history, achievements and contributions in the United States. The books on display cover a variety of topics related to Hispanic heritage. Titles include Latin@s' Presence in the Food Industry, The Spanish Frontier in North America and Black Cuban, Black American: A Memoir

"The materials selected by Lynaire Hartsell, user experience coordinator for the University Libraries, aim at providing further information regarding the Hispanic Heritage Month's Independence Day celebrations," said Martha Anderson, chair of the libraries' Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee. "Books related to various Latin American countries' histories and their struggles for independence are available for review. Visit and enjoy the newly renovated Mullins Library."

The Diversity and Inclusion at the U of A Libraries research guide includes a section on Latinx and Hispanic resources, including books, campus groups and Spanish-speaking authors in the libraries' collections. Other related research guides include Resources for Spanish Teaching Assistants and Latin American and Latino Literature
