Global Series Explores Bangladesh Culture

University Housing's Global Series continues this week by exploring the history and culture of Bangladesh.

The presentation begins at 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 29, in Holcombe Hall's living room.

Arineeta Deb, a senior, will speak about Bangladesh. She said that it is a very biodiverse country with a rich cultural heritage. Bangladesh is a land of rivers with more than 700 rivers including the Padma River, which is the second-fastest in the world. It is also one of the world's most densely populated countries with more than 165 million people living in about 57,000 square miles of land.

Deb said she wants to showcase the country's food, language and clothes to allow participants to get a general sense of the Bangladeshi people.

Global Series is a program that offers international students and domestic students with study abroad experience an opportunity to share their culture, beliefs and traditions with the campus community.

The progam features and celebrates distinct cultures represented on campus. We want to learn about the different homes of our international students and the experiences of our domestic students in new countries, said program spokesperson Shemsa Ndahiro Iribagiza. 

"Join us as we learn and celebrate the diversity in our students," Iribagiza said.

This event is open to all UARK students, staff and faculty as well as the Fayetteville community. We encourage attendees to invite their families and friends.
