BASIS Mainframe Decommissioning and Data Warehouse Training

Access to BASIS will be removed on Oct. 27, and historical BASIS data will only be accessible in the Data Warehouse. If you require access to historical BASIS data, IT Services strongly recommends attending one or more of the Data Warehouse training sessions before BASIS access is removed on Oct. 27.  

Training on how to access historical BASIS data in the Data Warehouse will be offered daily, in person and online, from Oct. 4 to 22. If you are new to the Data Warehouse, please attend the Intro training before attending one of the focused topic trainings.

Project Overview  

With only two years of finance and HR data in Workday, many still rely on data in BASIS to complete critical work activities. IT Services recognizes this need and is working to migrate all historical data not available in Workday to ensure it is accessible before the mainframe is retired at the end of October. Staff with a business need to access historic BASIS data will have preconfigured reports similar to those found in BASIS today.

The decommission of the BASIS mainframe will save the university approximately $1 million per year in service and licensing fees and help ensure the integrity and proper use of institutional data.
