Gifted Education Expert to Present Lecture on Friday
Jennifer Jolly
Jennifer Jolly, director of the Gifted Education and Talent Development Office at the University of Alabama, will speak at the U of A on Friday, Oct. 8.
Jolly is a professor in the College of Education and also holds an honorary professorship at the University of New South Wales.
Friday's lecture — "Homeschooling & Advanced Learners" — will be at noon in room 343 of the Graduate Education Building. The Friday lecture series is hosted by the Department of Education Reform in the U of A College of Education and Health Professions.
Jolly's experience with gifted education spans over 20 years, beginning as a classroom teacher in Texas. She has held faculty positions in gifted education at Louisiana State University and the University of New South Wales (Australia). She co-edits the Journal for Education of the Gifted. Her research interests include parents of gifted children, homeschooling gifted and advanced learners, the history of gifted education and Australian gifted education. Jolly earned a Ph.D. from Baylor University.
Unless otherwise indicated, all lectures will be held at noon on Fridays in GRAD 343. Please make sure to RSVP before 1 p.m. on the Wednesday before that week's event.
