Central Asian Country of Uzbekistan Showcased at Today's Global Series
University Housing's Global Series focuses this week on Uzbekistan. This central Asian country formerly belonged to the Soviet Union and declared independence from that country in August 1991.
Join us at 8 p.m. today, Oct. 13, in Holcombe Hall's living room as we learn more about the history, culture and stories of Uzbekistan.
"Uzbekistan is full of customs and traditions, which makes it particularly interesting for others," said presenter Munirakhon Zaylobidinova.
"One cannot believe the beauty of the fields and mountains, feeling the taste of fresh fruits and participating in traditional holidays."
Uzbekistan is known for Silk Road Cities such as Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva. The country's ornate architecture speaks to its role as a crossroads of culture and is one of the most popular tourist attractions.
Global Series is a program that offers international students and domestic students with study abroad experience an opportunity to share their culture, beliefs and traditions with the campus community.
Join us as we learn and celebrate the international diversity of our students.
This event is open to all university students, staff and faculty as well as the Fayetteville community.
