Plan on Using Scooter Valet Service at Upcoming Football Games

Riding an e-scooter to the football game tomorrow? Please plan on parking at the convenient scooter valets near the Maple/Garland intersection by the Law School or near the Stadium/Clinton intersection across from Adohi Hall.  

The scooter valets help alleviate traffic and parking issues and establish a preferred parking area for scooter users. Please remember, the area around the stadium is a "no ride" and "no park" zone, so plan on parking your scooter at either scooter valet location and walking the short distance from the valet to the stadium. The valet service will be available one hour before kickoff — giving you plenty of time to enjoy yourself before the game. Representatives from SPIN and VEORIDE will be at the valet to help you park and then have the scooters ready for pick up after the game.  

"Having a defined scooter parking area helps reduce the parking clutter that happens when scooter users haphazardly park. It's important that we keep the sidewalks passable at all times," said Cpl. Porter from the U of A Police Department. "E-scooters are a popular form of transportation for football games, and it is important for every user to remember to stay safe and be courteous by slowing near, and yielding to, pedestrians, who have the right of way."   

As a reminder, e-scooters are allowed to be used on streets, paved trails and everywhere bicycles are allowed. E-scooter riding is permitted on most sidewalks, but riders must yield to pedestrians. Extra caution should be used at crosswalks and driveways. No riding is allowed on sidewalks adjacent to buildings. More information can be found below and at safety.uark.edu.

Scooter Etiquette 

• Park scooters neatly — at a bike rack or in a designated corral.
  • Always park scooters upright on firm surface so they don't fall over.
  • DO NOT park scooters:
    • Blocking sidewalks
    • In handicapped zones
    • In front of doors
    • In flow of traffic
• Obey Traffic Laws — scooter users must obey the same traffic laws as drivers.
  • Always yield to pedestrians.
  • Yield to vehicle traffic at crosswalks and intersections.
  • Use the bell before passing pedestrians.
  • Use the right lane when in the street and NEVER ride against traffic.
• Watch Your Speed — scooters will automatically slow to 6 MPH in designated "slow zones."
• Helmets prevent head injuries and are strongly recommended.
