John A. White Jr., Grady E. Harvell and James E. McClelland Jr. (left to right) were inducted into the College of Engineering Hall of Fame on Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Rogers Convention Center. In addition, McClelland's father, J.E. McClelland Sr., was posthumously inducted into the Hall of Fame.

College of Engineering alumni, faculty, staff and guests gathered Saturday to induct four new members into its Hall of Fame and recognize 34 alumni with Distinguished Alumni Awards and Early Career Awards.

"We're thrilled to celebrate the accomplishments of our alumni at various stages of their careers and to call attention to how engineering can help solve problems of the day and make the world a better place," said Kim Needy, dean of the College of Engineering. "This is an exceptional group of alumni that represents the absolute best of the College of Engineering."

The college was forced to postpone its banquets in spring 2020 and spring 2021 and chose to recognize those groups together this fall, albeit with a smaller celebration than is customary. The black-tie event featured dinner and an awards ceremony led by Dean Needy and co-hosts Charles Zimmerman and John Miller, with remarks by U of A interim Provost Terry Martin.
