Bregni Lecture

The Italian Program in the World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures Department presents Dante and Video Games at 5 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 16, in Giffels Auditorium, Old Main, room 201. This presentation is part of a series of events that celebrate the 700th anniversary of Dante's death.

Simone Bregni, associate professor of Italian and chair of the Department of Languages, Literatures & Cultures at Saint Louis University, will explore the many examples of video games and digital media inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy. By exploring what we can learn from the representation of Dante and his world through video games, Bregni will investigate the multisensorial experience of Dante's medieval text in a virtual reality context.

The event is Sponsored by the Consulate General of Italy, in Houston, Texas; the Center for Multicultural and Diversity Education; the Comparative Literature & Cultural Studies Program; the University Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; the English Department; Honors College; and the Medieval and Renaissance Studies Program.
